Breaking: 8 Family Members Die After Matatu Rolls On Nyeri - Nyahururu Road.

A family has lost eight members after the matatu they were travelling was involved in a fatal accident on the Nyeri-Nyahururu road near Ndaragwa forest. Multiple reports indicate they were coming from a burial ceremony before they met their death after the vehicle rolled several times.

This comes as the number of road accidents continue to rise in the past two months with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) coming under sharp criticism. In the past two months, over 1000 lives have been lost in road accidents that have shocked Kenyans.

Majority of the deaths have been reported on the Northern Corridor with many being on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway. Following public outcry over the increased road accidents, the NTSA banned all night travel for long distance passenger vehicles as one measure of addressing the menace.

On Tuesday, January 9, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered that all NTSA officials be withdrawn from all roads and directed the the Traffic police department takes over.
